About the Department
Tourism Management Department was established in 2008. Starting from 2016-2017 Teaching Year Fall Semester, students were taken to the Department of Tourism Management. The aim of the Department of Tourism Management is to educate qualified and qualified managers for the tourism sector by providing contemporary, scientific and quality education and training in the field of tourism management. To this end, students are equipped with knowledge and skills related to a foreign language (English or German), information technology, tourism sector and tourism businesses, modern business administration and management.
The objectives of the Department of Tourism Management are:
- Prioritize the personal development of our students with a student-centered approach,
- To produce academic knowledge,
- Having the training staff who constantly renew themselves and reinforce what they know through sectoral practices,
- To transfer universal values to new generations and to give them a universal perspective which enables them to develop as world citizens,
- To create a culture in which the empathy is dominant and the subordinate relations are flexible,
- To produce permanent solutions with the analytical approach to the problems of tourism sector,
- To inform the public about tourism and to provide them with tourism and living,
- To create capacity and awareness about Bartın's discovery of the cultural and tourism resources and the development and use there of.
Working Areas
For departmental graduates, there are a wide range of business opportunities in businesses such as hospitality management, food and beverage operations, transport operators, travel agencies, museums and national parks, where tourism is rapidly developing. There is also an academic career opportunity for successful and prospective students.
Training Process
Our students are seeing both theoretical and practical lessons for 4 years. Students complete 60 days of compulsory internship in order to start at the end of the 4th semester. Since our department aims to determine the programs to meet the needs of the sector and to teach package programs under hotel automation; Opera, Fidelio, etc. are also taught to provide you with a fully equipped future tourist. Students can use the Double Major program in which they can continue their education in another section concurrent with the department they are studying or the Minor program which they can partly participate in undergraduate education in another department that is close to the subject of the undergraduate departments. In addition, students may study at European universities for a semester or academic year under agreements made under the Erasmus Learning Mobility. In addition to this, the Erasmus Internship Mobility Program provides for the acquisition of vocational training and working time in an enterprise or organization in Europe.
